gregor,
Thanks. I don't purposefully want to make a lot of money at others expense, but I think it may turn out that way. I have positions in both gold and platinum right now, but mostly cash. I see a lot of turmoil on the horizon. I think our nation as a whole has become far too materialistic to an extreme, the pursuit of money beyond reason or caution.
It is ironic that farmers, producing a bumper crop this year of wheat and some having stored up some soybeans hoping for better prices this year are being wrecked financially by the low prices of the Asian contagion.
So much effort is put forth on the part of government officials to keep investor confidence up. And then the political situation. Perhaps we are due for an upheaval here in the states. If it happens we need to be ready -- not to protect ourselves, like these people who would separate themselves from society, the survivalists, but ready to remind people where true wealth is found -- Jesus -- only in Jesus.
Pray for our political leaders. They have a tough job ahead of them. it takes courage to put aside prejudices and distaste and to judge rightly. I believe our President should step down, but expect that he won't. The whole situation grieves me and the media who would make us callous to such things.
Perhaps I shouldn't have brough this up, but some of the quips an sound bites get to me. Of course, he is just a man and can be forgiven, but does that change what he did or mean there should be no consequences? Can I say that with full knowledge that I am a sinner and in need of God's grace?
Gregor,
I pray that you and yours are well. We are involved this year in starting a new congregation with 4 other families. Not because of a split, but because we desired to do so in another community -- please keep us in your prayers. Saturady we are going to a community festival and hope to make many new contacts. Thanks for thinking about me.
I'll be back and post more soon.
God bless you, Barry |
