Telular Canada Inc TC
Shares issued 14,200,000 Sep 25 close $0.80
Mon 28 Sept 98 News Release
Mr. Harry Klein reports
Telular Canada's wholly owned subsidiary, Global Data Granite
Communications, a leading innovator of wireless automatic data collection
solutions, advises that its new NOVAS hand-held computer will support the
GSM wireless network for use with both data and voice communications using
Wavecom's GSM900 module. Wavecom, based in Paris, France, is the world
leader in the evolution of wireless integration solutions. The GSM (Global
Systems for Mobile Telecommunications) network currently has in excess of
100 million users, a vast number of which are mobile workers that have a
need for real-time data and voice transmission.
The environmentally rugged GSM version of the NOVAS will be available March
1999. The NOVAS provides an easy-to-use touchscreen for data entry and will
also support an integrated barcode scanner, compact flash storage
technology, wireless LAN via an internal single type II PCMCIA slot,
industry standard IrDA, and signature capture. The wide array of options
provides an exceptional platform to meet the demanding needs for data
collection for a variety of industries including parcel track and trace,
transportation, route delivery, utilities, and public service.
GSM is the leading wireless standard in Europe that enables rapid and cost
effective access for voice and data communications. Supporting GSM provides
Global Data Granite Communications the opportunity to expand and enhance
both its market presence and market share throughout the European
community.
In addition to an existing service centre in France, Global Data Granite
Communications will establish a third party service centre in the United
Kingdom to provide European product support and repair services.
