Yes, the yen/dollar exchange rate is not good for business. You've correctly recognized that we are in a cyclical downturn - good job. As far as cost cutting is concerned, make a short list of semiconductor companies and semi-equipment manufacturers that have not cut jobs during this downturn. This will help you to understand the severity of the downturn.

RE:Since SVGI is not the only game in town, if business does pick-up in this sector, it not clear how much of this will come its way.

It is not a question of if, but of when. I recommend not waiting for business to pick up before initiating a position in the stock. It will be trading much higher at that time. Of course, if you really think there will be no business for the company in the future, then you could short the stock as they slide into bankruptcy over the next five years. Keep in mind, they've been in business for 25 years and have survived past downturns.

RE:Whatever the case, the fact that you are a rude SOB has already been established.

OT: I too like Van Gogh's Starry Night and have a framed print in my office.
