Hiya dog,

Re: If Dell 'beats' CPQ, HP or IBM, it should be a side effect of their success, not a business goal.

I agree 100%, and that's how I've lived my life. Not as an external competition, but as an internal one.

I never tried to get good grades; I just tried to learn as much as I could, and the grades followed.

My career did not depend on how much I could make; I just followed what I know and enjoy (software) and the money followed.

I never tried to "fool" a girl, I just acted like myself and am now married. ;-)

This is the same lesson that makes Groundhog Day such a great movie. To see one of my adulthood heroes personifying that lesson -- well, that makes me very happy indeed.

Cheers,
KenB
