Paul,>>>With some luck, Unix/Linus/Sun Solaris will help drive the increase in Intel penetration of the server market. <<<

Craig Barrett is not relying solely on luck and/or Merced to resume growth. There is pending announcement with Linux (Red Hat)next week.

>>>Among Red Hat's potential corporate backers are Intel Corp. and Netscape Communications Corp. An announcement is expected as early as Tuesday, when Young is scheduled to appear with executives from both companies in San Jose, Calif. <<<

In NY Times Article : nytimes.com

It seems Linux has 14% of the Unix server market.

Also, saw Barrett on CNBC discusing digital photography market and selling components into digital cameras - not to mention the market for all those hundreds of millions of 386/486's to upgrade to PII's to participate in email with digital photography capabilities.

Looks like Barrett is just getting started to get growth going big time once again.
