Do you know where I can find charts on the net that plot
the price of gold in terms of the U.S. dollar index

And does anyone know a good place to see the price of
gold or silver coins - I'm interested in watching the
premiums.

About 1979, when silver peaked at $50/oz, the refiners
were only paying $40/oz for silver bags, since they had
already had a 1 year backlog of coins to melt, I was told.

I expect, particularly with silver, to see a substantial
premium of coins over bars, as the Y2k fear spreads.
Might be the basis of a good spread in that.

If the demand is mainly for coins, how much can that pull
up PM prices, all other factors remaining the same?
