I think the MM is playing games due to the uncertainty. By lowering the quote and giving a huge spread, he created some panic selling or rather took advantage of the situation to foster some panic selling. There wasn't a great deal of selling but there was in fact selling.

Now if the MM is accumulating on his own speculation that this deal is going through and just buying cheap stock, this would be good. The only reason it's worth thinking about, is that usually the MM know more than we do.

If, on the other hand, he is merely doing a few shares with huge markups, then he is like the convenience store that charges huge mark-ups for convenience of having a market. If this is the case, he knows no more than we do.

Maybe this makes sense and maybe it doesn't. What I'd rather have is some REAL INFORMATION. LOL It can't take that long to rewrite a proxy.
