To All: American Express said an announcement to be made tomorrow regarding an acquasition. Stock very active and up 10%. American Express financial is the largest shareholder of Novell with 17.5 million shares and would like to expand their business into computer banking/networking. It was rumored that they were going to acquire Intuit some months ago.

Could Intel and American Express be looking at developing some specialized network operation for secure transactions utilizing Novell's technology. This would provide a much broader investment opportunity for American Express to expand into electronic commerce while owning a cash flow machine like Novell with the kicker of $1 Billion Dollars. Although Mr Buffet does not invest in companies which he does not understand, all the fundamental values of Novell meet his criteria. He is one of the largest shareholders of American Express.

I am looking forward to what American Express will announce with anticipation.

Has anybody else heard anyother stories about American Express's announcement?
