I gave my old car to charity. It was not running and could not pass smog when it was running. They towed it away and a couple of months later I was getting all kinds of parking tickets. I called the charity several times to make sure they had turned over the registration to DMV. I called the police....I called DMV. DMV said it was common...that these charities took forever to process the paper work. I had to fill out some disclaimer at DMV. But all tickets have vanished.

PS I got a notice from the City of San Francisco that the car was being auctioned due to non payment of towing and storage fee's. I have a feeling this was not a "real" charity.
