From the CYA department (although not very helpful to you now) DMV has a form for the seller to notify that wonderful, well-working agency as to the date of sale of a vehicle and to whom it was sold. I ALWAYS submit that form to the DMV.

I have wondered about all those newspaper ads for "charities" offering to take old clunkers, affording tax deductions to relieved former owners. Now I know. Great story, BTW. Are you going to go to the auction?
