Good arguments, j_b, but don't underestimate the fervor of the faction now controlling the agenda of the Repub. party. They're more fundamentalist than ever.........religious fervor is the strongest motivator in many humans......in the history of the planet most of the wars were caused by religion. I'm not an atheist:o)......just a student of history & the sad role religion has played in it. It'll be interesting to see the results of Nov. elections. Ann
