Hey Judy,

I read Michael Burkes' message. There's plenty of sand. Gee, great economic analysis. With MEMC the problem isn't sales but margins. I suspect that SEH and Wacker have to deal with the same margins that MEMC does so I would suspect that SEH and Wacker are hurting also, although I don't know. Why would MEMC fold before SEH and Wacker?
If MEMC and Wacker folded wouldn't that give the Japanese a monopoly on silicon? I wouldn't think that would give Western fabs a very cozy feeling. Also, what's to stop SEH from folding before MEMC and Wacker. The American and German economies are relatively stable whereas some economists are warning of a Japanese economic collapse. So where is SEH's support going to come from?

I would love it if someone could offer some insight since I'm obviously not well informed. But please, don't tell me there's plenty of sand.

Sorry for the rambling,
Bruce
