shahar....from your post....."Maybe it's not clear. a 'stop short@whatever' order initiates
a short." ...

i was just being syntex ignorant...and not paying attention to other posts regarding ,.....stop.....syntex

i was already short at 1047.48............when i posted 'stop short@1047.48'......the index was around 1045, and my feeling at the time was that the S&P was on its way to around 1040-1042 and that if it hit that area it would reverse quickly into the close for the day, but i was kind of buzzing around and if i missed a move down to the 1040-42 area i wanted my short to get closed out at 1047.48...........
then the next time i looked it was 1042.30 and that was when i posted the second
'stop'.......the idea then was if it kept going lower i could ride it down and if not then i would lock in one 5 pt. move as it rallied into the close.........................
being ignorant i was viewing the 'stop short' as reading "stop the existing short"..............in reality it appears the order should have been 'stop flat'

so in essence what i was trying to do was to have a 'sell stop' and then lower my 'sell stop' as the price went down.......doesn't matter... just screwing around
as i await a drop down to 1000-1010 and then cash in the real $ put options i took last Wednesday
