From a product positioning perspective, this is a good looking acquisition. Netscape got Kiva, Sun got NetDynamics, now BEA has WebLogic. Management must be getting a little stretched round about now, what with swallowing TopEnd recently as well. I hope they work in an ego-free environment. The technology folks will be having conniptions trying to work out how to marry some venerable Tux code with some sexy Java stuff (on top of the fun and games already under way with ObjectBroker and MessageQ). It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall at some of those meetings... Sales will be spending most of their time reworking their customer presentations, trying to remember what they said to which customer and when, while trying to find a price book... Finance will be tearing their hair out trying to keep up with all the surprises that appear after each new acquisition, while at the same time trying to persuade somebody - anybody - to produce a new business plan. Marketing is at lunch, celebrating another great leap forward. david
