I have found it impossible to get to sleep this evening - as my snotty little retort to your considered answer haunted me. I had made a mistake. It was true that I had asked a question - and that you answered it.

Pragmatically, experientially, all that stuff, I cannot help but agree with the position you have taken - that of making knowledge financially functional. I just wish it weren't so.

For several decades, I had a car - that I spent most of my time twisting and whirling to fill with gas. The efforts to get gas were not satisfying.

Now I have a car with no gas - and no twisting or twirling. I am afraid, though, that, in concurrence with your attitude, it may soon be repo'd. And this threat causes the old twirling to be replaced by squirming.

In metaphor, I have tried to say that I accept your version of 'teaching' - though I do not do so with glee. Geo.
