From what you say, Clay, a slim % improvement in volume has a disproportionate effect on net income. That's typical of 'leverage' and can be a dangerous quality, i.e., a small % decrease in volume can devastate COST's net income.

Have you any evidence that volume is in fact growing as fast as it had been? This would seem to be quite an important observation.
