Scumbria, Re SGI, SGI is a classic example of trying to sit on a lead. They remind me of the Houston
Oilers under Jerry Glanville and Jack Pardee. The management of that company
has no one to blame but themselves for their demise.

And too long, maybe until it's too late, ignoring Intel hardware? Gotta get in the standard Intel chant, right?

SGI did interview a friend of mine about four years ago, very qualified for what they needed, three times. Then, they said he needed to come in one more time. He told them in so many words, if they couldn't decide in three interviews, forget it. Maybe that is a show of complacency, as you say.

Have to check out this new HP "visualization computer", article for which did mention SGI.

It said the difference in cost reflects the underlying
technology.

"We are using standard workstation technology. Our
competitor Silicon Graphics uses comparatively high-end
technology," explained Barry Crume, Product Marketing
Manager at HP's Workstation Systems division.

Must be Intel hardware, no?
