The results were tainted, according to LeDoux, because of their negligence in how they rotated the gold and silver used as collectors.
Unless Norton was in the lab doing the rotating(which of course he wasnt) then it certainly isnt his fault that Ledoux supposedly committed such a grievous yet simple error, your implications of Norton's fault aside.

The real question you should be asking is how a supposedly world class operation such as LeDoux could commit such a simple error? I find the "convienance" of their excuse to be interesting, and wonder if it could up to more extensive scrutiny. I certainly would like to find out, and wonder if others would too?
