Lets get real. Should FAA's industrial policies be discontinued and let the marketplace run their own course?

Yes.

FAA is a regulator (excessive in the past). I think there is still a difference between setting safety standards and industrial policy.

But I have no doubt in my mind that the air travel would be safer, cheaper, more predictable and more comfortable without FAA.

Just look at UPS or FedEx, who are in a similar business. They are delivering packages instead of people. Compare their record with that of the airlines.
