To Paul and All, Heidelburg providing Presstek Technology for Speedmaster, announced this month. POLAR PERFECT AT HEIDELBERG Heidelberg Canada had a one-stop solution booth at Print Ontario which utilized the latest Presstek technology and their new Polarcutter. Attached to Heidelberg's five-colour Speedmaster, the Presstek Pearlsetter which is available both in two-up or four-up versions. They are also available for wet presses, offering run lengths up to 40,000 and dry presses, offering runs lengths up to 100,000. There are a "ton" of Speedmasters and like Quickmaster DI's they are selling like hotcakes both in the US and out. Could this mean double the presses using Presstek plates? Also, it is very interesting to note that the run size for presstek plates has doubled! This "new Polarcutter" is certainly NEW. Is it a new Presstek platesetter? imager? Is it DTP? Will attempt to learn more on this by end of week. Back to Linotype-Hell being aquired by Heidelberg...They have no plate offering at all. No concern here for quite some time.
