Incidentally, I talked to a salesman of a company providing
backup solutions while visiting the Orbit trade show in Basel,
Switzerland. He had some tape library systems on display which
caught my eye: maybe 12" to 18" on a side, with a dozen or more
1/4" tapes, each holding 20 GB uncompressed, ~40 compressed,
for a total capacity of several hundred GB. For about $8000.
Not bad. I asked him about Ampex systems and he was familiar
with them. He said that DRS, the Swiss TV station, had a
couple of them. He described the size of the cassettes to me:
about the size of a full-sized laptop computer!

Since we often talk about the Ampex tape systems with respect
to hopefully gaining a broader market, I thought that maybe people
would like to be able to visualize just how big the tapes are.
We're not talking about something like regular video cassettes.
