Over time, though SI should be a smaller proportion of GNET's revenues, and it will become more difficult to parse out its portion of the pie, since GNET sells advertising for all of its properties and will report that income as a whole, rather than site by site. For the 6 months ended March 23, 1998, GNET had revenues of 935k and SI had revenues of 610k, or about 40% of the combined total. That percentage has shrunk to 34% of the combined total for the 3 months ended June 23, 1998. Why? Revenue from GNET's other properties (Metacrawler, Stocksite, Playsite) grew faster than revenue from SI. With the addition this summer of Webmarket and Hypermart, you should see the proportion of GNET income from this property shrink below the 34% for the 3-6/98 period.
Actually, a better way of measuring the impact of SI on GNET revenues is to look at the membership levels--that represents dollars of income and the page views--that represents ad revenue. Member posts, though related to membership levels of course, may not be as significant since members don't see the ads, but non-member lurkers (who connect easily from stocksite.com) see the ads. |
