****OT Shugart & SNDK ***** FWIW, It may be significant that Al S. bought some stock, but SNDK did NOT go "straight up" after he bought it. SEG/Shugart bought into SNDK quite awhile ago, in the early 90s I think. Their cost is, I believe, around $6-7/share, though I may be off by a dollar or two (may be as high as 9). Stock went public at 15 a couple of years later, went up to about 27 or 28 in its first 6-9 honeymoon months, then down to a roughly 10-15 trading range for a couple of years, then last fall shot up to 40 after they won some significant patent suits and announced their MMC flash memory for cell phones with Siemens. Its been a long, long downward slide ever since, down to about 7 1/2 now. I think that the selling is overdone, and it is a buy now, but all small semi stocks are getting clobbered, and SNDK doesn't have the track record to avoid the same treatment.
In any case, I'm sure Al wants to make money from his purchase, but he doesn't necessarily have a golden touch on all of his investments. Just a cavaet emptor. |
