This could be a contrarian indicator, although SOROS once again speaks with forked tongue. Telling us he is long, but making noises like it will collapse. You were wondering why the Big Names haven't addressed y2k? Well, they have addressed it, sorta kinda, but not ion the way that would make you go out and buy IBM stock. I mean, IBM caused the damn problem in the first place! Franklin CHiang offered them a way out YEARS ago, but sometimes offering a solution to a problem ultimately leads to ADMITTING there is a big problem. IBM doesn't like that kind of talk. They would rather do heavy private petting with a nobody like Peritus software that go public with a potential winner like MatriDigm. Regarding Oracle....well, they don't HAVE the problem. The offer software for client-server systems, get it? They are hoping that poeple will scrap their Big Iron and COBOL and switch over to their software products. This will not happen because this is even MORE expensive than converting COBOL tapes. Oracle sees the future in cross-platform migration and I/S maintainence. Maybe that's why Oracle has a strategic alliance with Zitel. Afterall, Hallmark Cards uses Oracle DBS and Zitel file servers.

January 6 has been confirmed many times over. For the last time: It is the annoucnment date for all the companies that Zitel/MD have signed up for y2k conversion services. I would love to load up on BRCP stock, but I refuse to pay that kind of spread. It just goes aginst the grain. You may want to hover aorund the BRCP website come the first wek of January, because their webmaster informs me new stuff will be lsited there, especially stuff about "new commerical availability." But of course, that could just be a conincidence with 1/6/97.
