Paul: The USF management is young and aggressive. I had the opportunity to meet several of them awhile ago when I worked for the company..I do not work for the company now.

CCC in my dealings is more of a service company and I do not see them as a strong competitor. CCC supplys chems and raw materials also for the water treatment industry. At one time they were a division of MERK a pharmacutical Co.I have not done any recent DD on CCC and things may have changed a great deal.BETZ and NALCO are two of thier biggest competitors that come to mind.

Competition: IONICS (ION) is by far thier biggest competion in most all areas of thier business. ION is a fine company also and has very strong management.I chose not to start a thread on ION only because I work for the company.

Glegg out of canada is a strong competitor in the Water Purification area, large capital Equipment.I do not know much about thier fundamentals or management but have worked with them a few times.

Thier has been a lot of consolidation in the Water/waste water and recovery field's by USF and ION in the past few years, and it will probably continue in 1997.
