I'm new on this thread, so have a heart. I posted this on the AAPL thread and on the IBIS thread, but no one seems to have a clue. I hope someone here can clarify the circumstances.
It seems that bid, ask, downticks and upticks are not counted in Quote.com's Live!Quote chart tracker or on Datek or on Excite. That means that when you get an instant quote at Datek, the "last" is not the last at all! It's the last [except for bid, ask, downticks and upticks.] Right?
See! Right now it's 15:00 est. I'm using IBIS as an example because it is thinly traded and I have a 15 minute delay on Live!Quote, but if you have instant quotes the same phenomena is true for AAPL, DELL, PSIX or any other stock. (Only NASDAQ stocks will show the bid and ask on Live!Quotes delayed)
Datek shows: bid = 11 1/2 ask = 11 3/4 last = 12 vol = 20,400
Same as the last 25 minutes.
Live!Quotes shows at least 4 trades since the "last" one at $12. 14:43:20 - 11 1/2 bid 1000 shares 14:43:20 - 11 3/4 ask 300 shares 14:43:20 - 11 1/2 dntk 1000 shares 14:43:20 - 11 3/4 ask 400 shares
The last $12 trade on Live!Quotes was: 14:24:54 - 12 ask 1000 shares
The last trade that was not a bid or ask was: 14:19:28 - 12 green 800 shares
Green indicates a new high for the day, yet there were trades on Live!Quote that went through at 12 1/8 and 12 1/4 before the green one above. However, they were at "ask."
No more trades went through until 15:08:00 at 11 9/16 uptk 1000.
Datek at 15:31: bid = 11 5/8 ask = 11 3/4 last = 12 vol = 20,400
The volume isn't right either. In the AM, I found Datek to be reporting IBIS's volume at roughly 1/4 of that which I could add together on Quote.com's Live!Quotes tracker.
I've been noticing this for some time, so I know that it is not some temporary fluke of the internet.
Anyone care to explain?
Please?
