I am about to give you the BEST advice for these markets!

The best and most honest advice is "I don't know".. I don't know what are the best stocks or the 'one' that will make you money as a long time hold. Don't get swayed by threads or analysts with 'picks'. Their reasoning would fit every stock out there that is trading at 52 week low. If you sit on it long enough, you will make 'a killing' and you know that is ridiculous. Lots of brokerages and financials and selected technology will NEVER reach the lofty valuations they held 2 months ago. If you are losing over 20% and just 'holding' because someone said 'in the long run' you will make money, you are pandering to an ego that enjoys instant gratification.

You have to take this market 1 day at a time. Look at companies on an individual basis. If they have genuine chance to turn themselves around, then by all means. How could the brokerages turn themselves around completely? or some of the chip makers? the networkers? Did WDC turn itself around?

Is this a temporary slowdown in a quarter? Is this stock down just in identification with a 'down' market? Do you compare a company like COST with NT? Do you compare AFCI with HBOC? Why put good money on a stock that might never come back?

Smart Money says "Where to put your money NOW!" NICEY? well not really..

Barrons's article says "Warnaco".. I don't think so.. and so on...

And the knowledge of these prestigious magazines can't compare with threads on Silicon Investor. If they make unfortunate judgment calls what can you expect from SI? Please beware. Be careful of hype and wishful thinking. Some of these threads are 'sitting' on losing stocks and just think misery is better in numbers..

Do your own research, check out other tips but don't take them as gospel... There are no 'sure thing' stocks. Anyone who admits that truism has my respect.
