NEW YORK, Sept 30 (Reuters) - Warburn Dillon Read LLC on Wednesday said it cut its rating on Northern Telecom Ltd.
<NTL.TO> <NT.N> to hold from buy.

In a research note, analyst Nikos Theodosopoulos said:

he cut his view on the telecom equipment company becasue the company is losing market share in the PBX and wireless
markets as well as suffering from a generally slowing industry growth rate.

"The company also continues to feel the pinch of slowing spending relative to the MCI WorldCom (Inc.<WCOM.O>)
merger."

he cut his 1998 and 1999 earnings per share estimates to $1.80 and $2.00, respectively, from $1.82 and $2.45.

estimated revenue, including recently acquired Bay Networks, for 1998 would hit $17.6 billion, and 1999 revenues would
reach $21.8 billion, off from previous projections of $18.1 billion and $22.8 billion, respectively.

he beleives additional downside revenue risks exist if current trends persist.

he does not believe that stock will trade above the range of $30 to $34 a share, unless fundamentals change.
