The Troy plant was supposed to be sized for 1 pack per day. This facility was supposed to be sized for 10x the Troy plant. Certainly some of the equipment in Troy was capable of the larger size already, e.g., the positive electrode line in Troy was sized for 2000 to 2500 packs per year.

Old posts on the Kettering plant indicate that it is a huge facility (Mike Latas?) capable of far more than just the 2500 packs it was being set up to produce, and that expansions were easy modular additions.

I was going through these numbers the other day. If there are 450 EV1's out there and about that many S10's and one assumes a healthy conversion of existing vehicles from PbH2SO4 to NiMh (would you like to triple your range for $100 more per month) theres already a good sized pentup demand. One would presume a great many new leases will go for NiMH from the git go. Layer in some foreign mfg's purchasing, a conversion of either or both of Chrysler and Ford or a win with Toyota who Stempel mentioned is being pitched, and Kettering could be busting at the seams, soon.
