NEW NTRA COUNCIL SAYS TECHNOLOGY A PRIORITY -- "Maybe TTE"
The National Thoroughbred Racing Association's Thoroughbred Industry Council has targeted technology as a priority matter. "There was a general discussion about the increasing importance of technology, and the general consensus was the NTRA should be playing a more active role in that area," said NTRA executive director Nick Nicholson, who attended the Sept. 20 inaugural council meeting held in conjunction with the American Horse Council convention in Washington, D. C.
"It was agreed that we should always be looking at how technological advances could be used to the benefit of the industry--from more exciting Web sites to technological improvements that might make NEW
WAGERS possible." The Thoroughbred Industry Council's formation was announced earlier this month. Its purpose is to facilitate
communication between the NTRA and all segments of
the horse industry. Nicholson said the group reviewed television strategy and advertising, and discussed matters that may come
up at the next NTRA board meeting Oct. 6 in Louisville. The council will meet next in either December or January.

D'Amadeo, Wagner & Co., Incorporated on June 23, 1998 projects a profitable 2nd half of the year for fiscal '99 and .45 cents per share earnings in fiscal '00. They have a BUY rating and a $6-$8 per share price target.
