Charles,

Off Topic:

I have never bought the crap that there is a shortage of Technical
professionals. That lie has been repeated so many times that it
has now become the official position. The Y2K issue sucked away a sizeable chunk whose place was filled in by you know who. Age
discrimination also has shut the door for many displaced Americans.

Ideal free trade exists only in theory and the only nation that
comes very close to having an open market is the US which is
paying for its practices. Every nation tries to keep the market
open because it has some comparative advantages due to which it
can sell its goods abroad. Add lobbyists to the mix and it is a
recipe for disaster. Free trade should be based on reciprocality
and not be a political platform.

What I am afraid is that the software industry will be following
the footstep of the manufacturing industry, searching for the
cheapest labor market. The aim of capitalism is Maximization of
Profit, not providing jobs for the people; Jobs are only incidental.
Since Republicans are hell bent on taking the nation back to the
pre-1929 days, prosperity for all may be just round the corner, if
we can throw in a war.

Telecommunications has provided the ammo to software companies
who can threaten to move out seeking cheap labor, if they dont
get what they want.

regards
Krishna
