Linda,

If the tick is at 0, basicly that means that there are approximately the same numbers of buy orders as sell orders. It has to do with execution at the bids and asks.

Now if the TICK is at O and the DOW is down alot, say 150. What would happen if the TICK went much lower to say negative 1000. There will be alot more selling and the DOW will go lower.
