Bill: Not to belabor the point, but 'tar baby' definition as you first described it relates more to the definition found in the common english dictionaries, and best fits Soup's usage as such in relation to his comments to Alomex. Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary tar baby: (noun) something from which it is nearly impossible to extricate oneself, [from the tar baby that trapped Brer Rabbit in an Uncle Remus story by Joel Chandler Harris]. First appeared 1924. New Oxford Dictionary of English tar baby: (noun) informal a difficult problem which is only aggravated by attempts to solve it. ORIGIN with allusion to the doll smeared with tar as a trap for Brer Rabbit, in J. C. Harris's Uncle Remus. ========================================= Alomex: >I know that one. If the comments pan WinTel they are clever and funny, if they make Apple look bad, they are annoying and stupid.< Soup: Tar Baby gets it. Alomex: >In this forum people have accused me of lying and of being ignorant. I've been called stupid and annoying. And if I complain, I'm a cry baby.< Soup: Tar Baby gets it twice in one day!
