Monty; LBJ was a closet Republican, I don't think Texas can produce
a Democrat. His so called Great Society program was a sham from
head to toe , yes he bought votes..but he also answered to wall
street, oil,and the right wing hawks. I saw him as a smooth talking treasonest SOB to start with.

BTW Lady Byrds Brown and Root ( root and scoot) made it's big
fortune in the Nam war.
The one Republican I did half way like was IKE, I'm able to
appreciate he had a lot on his plate, and was still humble
enough to say "Kings aren't always wise, some times they are
just there"
BTW some people in his own Party turned on him when he implemented
ceiling prices back in the 50s, but he had too as
the price gouging reached horrific levels.
----------------------------------
If you remember me telling you about the time I was stranded in the
N.O. R.R. station during Hurricane Betsy, with 3 kids and a
pregnant wife. Well the one resentment I've never got over is the
price gouging that went on during that storm. The slimy b*strds
that exploited the helpless.

I was reminded of this just the other
day as news of the same thing going on in Panama City came in.
I think hearing of it put me in a bad mood.

After Betsy it was a mess , but I saw some people going in the
back door of a close by Post office, I followed them in and behold
came to a well stocked cafeteria, they knew I wasn't a local,
and looked at me like what are you doing here, well they saw the
look on my face , and I'll tell you it was one that said if you
even try to tell me I can't have some of this I'll rip your
guts out. No body said a word to me as I went through the line,
and them trying to stare me down didn't work worth a crap. <G>

I had made up my mind if I didn't get some for my family, I would
destroy the whole damm place before they could stop me.
Lets see I was about 28 at the time, and had survived to be amoung some of the toughest fisherman on the water front out here in Freeport.
To this day I won't even watch these so called action movies as
they just piss me off. Every one of them movie stars should have
had to tackle me or some one like me when I was young and they would not be so quick to glorify and make big their gung ho kick ass antics.

The hardest part of the fishing life and the circle I had to once
work in was not the work. You had to be a top producer to get a
decent boat, but to get a chance to show how you could produce
you had to be able to first fist fight your way to some respect.
Them poor post office workers had no idea of what this fisherman
could do when pissed off, and I'm glad they didn't test me.
I spent so much of my life angry that it finnaly got to me,
I avoid it best I can now days. <G>
