The arithmetic for things like this don't make sense. If there is
a conspiracy afoot here, the conspirators are too stupid to feed
themselves.

Pay one programmer a $300K package a year, or pay 100 programmers
$50K a year. Also, this doesn't include benefits and other overhead.
Even a $50K employee, and I doubt that ORCL has any of those in
engineering (I know that Sun pays much better than this, for
instance) costs more than $100K/year.

Why is the VC++ debugger a total piece of junk? So that MSFT can
avoid paying a couple of system programmers a decent salary and
instead bring in a lot of H-1 grunts and waste a lot of their time?
I doubt it. When I've been close enough to lossage like this to
know what's going on, it's always been because the people involved
don't know how to fix the problem.

I also don't believe that the kind of cars we drive could get 200
mpg if only Standard Oil would release those great inventions that
they have suppressed. Sometimes things don't work because we aren't
smart enough to fix them...
