RESEARCH ALERT - Micron ratings
reiterated

NEW YORK, Sept 29 (Reuters) - Two brokers sent different signals about
the stock of Micron Technology Inc. on Tuesday.

-- Brown Brothers reiterated its short-term avoid rating on the stock.

-- SoundView Technology Group's analyst Scott Randall reiterated his strong buy rating on the stock, and raised his
share target price to $38 from $30.

-- Randall also raised his earnings estimate for fiscal year 1999 to an 83 cents per share loss from a $1.17 loss. He
increased his earnings estimate for fiscal year 2000 to $1.63 per share from $1.44.


-- Randall also trimmed his loss forecast for Micron's current fiscal first quarter to 23 cents per share from 31.

-- The computer memory chip maker reported a large quarterly loss on Monday of 42 cents a share for its fiscal fourth
quarter which ended Sept 3, but the loss was narrower than many Wall Street analysts had expected.
