Richard: What should concern us is something a bit more basic even than the procedures, i.e. whether that pile of material is homogeneous or not. If not, then we are going to have a BIG DETOUR while they assess the distribution of metals in the pile, and perhaps even have to do some sampling of floodplain materials. Argh! To my knowledge, they never have drilled the pile and tested for homogeneity, figuring that the stuff was uniform. Have we addressed this issue? If so, I apologize. When I visited the lab, there were two rooms, one for batch testing and one for R&D. I assumed that each activity was distinctly separate from the other.
