Paul, nobody knows what we're talking about. So here's a copy of

Paul, a friend pointed this article out to me and I got interested
in the indicator described in it. Before I knew it I had charted the
indicator against the AMAT price. Here's a link to the article in
Barron's
interactive.wsj.com
The indicator basically just measures volatility and bottoms when
volatility is greatest.
This usually happens when the price is ready to rebound. Richard Arms, the author, sees bottoming as a buy signal. I'm skeptical. Please take a look and let me know what you think. The units for the indicator in my chart would be "volume
to affect 1% volatility", but I had to scale it to fit on the same
chart with AMAT. I also made a chart for the DOW.
