IP and R continued............................................
Induced polarization (IP) is done by pulsing an electric current into the earth at one or two second intervals through metal electrodes. Disseminated conductive minerals in the ground will discharge the stored electrical energy during the pause cycle. The decay rate of the discharge is measured by the IP receiver. The decay voltage will be zero if there are no polarizable materials present.

Generally, both IP and resistivity measurements are taken simultaneously during the survey. Survey depth is determined by electrode spacing.

2D- IP and R cannot determine the mass of the deposit unless it is a 3D IP/R! My belief is that MDIN is doing 2D!

NOTE**The depth referred to "above" (in bold) is the depth the deposit is below the ground, or the surface skin of the deposit. They use phase shift/ amplitude modulation technology as well as pulsed charge and can calculate delay times on the decay of the charge! After determining the resistivity of the ground in the area. They can determine depth to the deposit by calculating the >t delay from true ground resistivity.

This is my understanding, at this point, newer technology may be available!
