Positive ThinSTAR Review:
zdnet.com

Good Stuff:
techweb.com

"Network Computing Devices Inc., which builds IBM's NetStations, received an equity investment from Intel worth about $5 million; as part of the deal, NCD will produce lean clients, and its first unit ships in the fourth quarter. Early next year, IBM also ships an Intel-based thin client, says Howie Hunger, director of channels and marketing for its network computer division."

..."Enderle even predicts that thin clients-perhaps those that support Terminal Server and the Intel spec-could overtake PC sales by the year 2002 because of their increasing capabilities and their management and ownership cost advantages."

..."Whatever the future holds, no vendor has so far cornered the market, which Zona estimates was worth $350 million in 1997 and will grow to $3.9 billion in 2000. For now, both Wyse and NCD have most of the business, at 24% each, according to Zona."

Does this mean NCD will be a $1B company by Y2K? Time will tell ...

Missed the $5 opportunity. Will be waiting next time.
