I assure you this is not true. The company i work for recently did a consulting engagement in conjunction with a systems integrator which incorporated Solaris on Dell servers not Sparc though.

Dell sells a lot of other operating environments - why would they have an NT only policy? Solaris on Intel for the same price as NT scales up easily to 12 processors and when available up to 32 like in the Unisys SMP box which they recently announced. Why would you have blinders on that the only solution you are going to consider is a 32 bit solution that scales at best to 4 processors, has extremely limited RAS capabilities,no remote manageability and will toss 20 millions of new untested code at you in 1 year (assuming it doesnt slip more which is a big if). oh yeah - Microsoft is good at marketing.
