One of the design wins they claimed at that time, Shinco, now makes DVD players.

Eighteen production lines sounds like this market is taking off. But I was surprised to not hear anything from ESS after Shinco started producing DVD systems.

Many of their competitors had recent news about selling DVD chips:

But ESS is keeping their DVD stuff pretty quiet. I wish ESS would say how their DVD sales are going. I don't remember any DVD-related press releases from them since that Oct 97 one. Anyone here have any more recent ESS-video news and/or speculation?
