Here's Something new on the NEC front.
I wonder how much does a VDSL modem cost.

Happy Holidays.

PUSHING 60 MEGS THROUGH
COPPER

Electronic Buyers' News via Individual Inc. : Score one for Amati
Communications. The San Jose telecom equipment maker claims a joint
development and manufacturing deal with NEC validates its discrete multi-tone
(DMT) technology that moves up to 60 megabits-per-seconds of data and video
over a single copper pair of wires. The agreement covers development and
manufacture of components and products based on Amati's Very- High-Speed
Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) technology. Amati believes the VDSL market will
prove to be even larger than the ADSL market. Initial shipments of VDSL
products should come before the end of '97. VDSL products from the two firms
should provide the fastest modems for existing copper telephone networks.
