You're not much into Santayana, I guess. Aside from which, most people would be happy to give George Bush a lot of credit for parts of the world situation in 1998, anyway. As to calling bluffs, Saddam Hussein, George sort of left that problem hanging, didn't he? He was in a pretty good position to do something about it, too. He chose a different path. "Iraqi people, rise up against Saddam." Oops, he didn't mean THOSE people. North Korea was problematic before Clinton. Embassies blew up before Clinton, or got burned down. Milosovich was thumbing his nose at us before Clinton. I can't speak to on and on, though.
But, historically speaking, we know Clinton's the worst ever. At least on a par with Caligula, we've heard here, and solely responsible for the decline of the West.
A predictable and hollow moral relativist response. Character does matter. Letting Clinton get away with his lies, perjury, obstruction and abuse of his office will corrupt an entire generation. NO MAN is above the law. Especially not one who is so lacking in character as the current occupant of the WH. If that be "McCarthyite" then that is a label I will gladly wear. It is time to return character and integrity to our lives and to politics in this country. Clinton is hopefully the nadir. It is spineless relativists such as yourself, fearful that someone may criticize your own lifestyle who have given a pass to the likes of Clinton for too long. You sir are a willing accomplice to the decline and (soon to be)fall of our society. Those who do not learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. It is exactly the collapse of moral order such as we are witnessing today which led to the leftist dictatorships in Europe in the 1930's and ultimately to WWII. I fear for a country and a society which do not recognize how corrosive the likes of Clinton are to all of us in our daily lives. Have you no shame? How can you continue to defend such an utterly despicable character? The fact that you seem educated and well read makes the situation all the more critical IMO. It is a very depressing situation indeed.
I agree about the depressing situation, of course. Anyway, which is it, David? Should Clinton do something about Kosovo? If he does, will you be in the inevitable "Wag the Dog" chorus, or will you give him credit? Rhetorical question, of course.
Cheers, Dan. |
