Pancho,

Good question.

I have DirecTV, which as you know, is affiliated with DirectPC.

You are correct (from my understanding) in that you need a phone line to actually send outgoing stuff via DirectPC. I have considered the service, due to the fact that when you are downloading stuff, it comes in 10x as fast as you could get it through a traditional ISP. I am told that I would need to swap out my current dish (and receiver) to get DirectPC. Nonetheless, I am considering it--the faster download times may indeed outweigh the extra cost involved in DirectPC.

As far as the TV service, I could not be happier. I am not held hostage to what my local cable provider wishes to show me, hence I have access to CNBC, CNNfn and Bloomberg TV, along with the rest of the channels. And the bonus is that I get extra sports coverage (NFL Sunday Ticket, ESPN Gameplan, etc.) that I could never get through cable. If I get the DirectPC service, I will keep you posted as to how it works out.

Gary
