Hitachi Data Systems Selects Intelispan for VPN Services
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 1998--Intelispan, Inc. (OTC BB: IVPN), announced today that Hitachi Data Systems has selected Intelispan as its provider of Virtual Private Network (VPN) services to support their new test tracking system called HDS Test.
Additionally, Hitachi Data Systems (NYSE:HIT - news) has agreed to become an Intelispan beta customer for its network Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) service.

''In addition to Intelispan's open architecture, their VPN is easily scaleable and provides the type of performance needed for this difficult project.''
Intelispan's VPN service, exSPANd, uses a private IP network that is partitioned from the Internet, and offers a completely integrated suite of network-enabled services. exSPANd can be used to create instant extranets; for supply-chain management, process automation and remote access; as well as for the management of networked collaborative communities.
Initially, Hitachi Data Systems will deploy exSPANd in two sites, increasing the number to eight by the end of 1998. The total number of users is projected to be in excess of 1000.

In addition to its exSPANd usage, Hitachi Data Systems will beta-test Intelispan's PKI. The exSPANd PKI service will allow the enterprise customer to control the registration policy and issuance, revocation, and maintenance of the digital keys and certificates, while Intelispan manages the certificate handling, storage, retrieval, revocation lists and authorization functions.
Intelispan's PKI conforms to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Security Working Group's development of Internet Protocol Security (IPSec), the PKIX cross certification efforts, and the ANSI X.509v3 standard.
