Hi Pat, How are you? Eddie from the east coast here. What are your thoughts about the highly anticipated Lucent takeover speculation.. I recently took a large position in 3com. I have read so many rumors about who Lucent is going after. I don't know what too belive. It seems that ASND<NN<COMS< are the front runners. From what I read, and researched. Too me I feel ASND would be a little too pricey. With sales of approx 1.3 billion, market cap near 9 billion. A buyout price at the low range of $60 - $70 would cost Lucent close too 13- 14 billion (roughy if not a little more).Generating them revenue of over 1 billion. 13 billion is a lot too pay in my mind. On the other hand you have NN. With approx the same amount of revenue as ASND. However, a market cap of approx 3.5 billion. A fair amount too pay for NN would be $5-6 billion for the same amount of revenue that ASND is currently offering. Then you have 3com. Market cap of over 10 billion. Revenue over 5 billion. A fair price too pay in my mind would be between $45-$50 dollars a share, or between $15&17 billion. You then of course have too look at what are Lucents needs .They made it public they are going after NT as well as CSCO. (maybe not in so many words) However they will be a major player in Data Networking. I feel that NN as well as COMS offer the best value for their money as well as adding value too LU bottom line. With COMS currently the number 2 networker. I am placing my bet on them. However NN is a close second. I feel COMS has the most too offer LU right off the get go and help LU get too where they want too be. Only thing that scares me is COMS is also into the ethernet cards as well as their highly successful Palm Pilot divisions. What would LU do with them. Maybe sell them off.Help pay for the aquisition ?. Or who knows keep them. What are your thoughts? This is just of course my opinion. I really don't know what will happen only time will tell. All in all even if COMS dose not get bought out I feel their stock will do well. By the way I finally also took a position in ADI. My father in-law swears by them. By the way I also read somewhere don't recall where that LU is looking for a DSP player and ADI name came up as the favorite.

Keep in touch Eddie
