I think Max-Pain makes a lot of sense for many stocks, without completely giving into the market-maker conspiracy theories. I appreciate your work and your making it available. Individual market makers will vary individual strike prices and spreads to hedge their own books and this should make the max-pain points respond to maximize m-m profits given the worst possible combination of put-call outcomes for MM's. According to my understanding, the MP point is generated by MM reactions, but is minimum pain for them, and it is max pain for put and call buyers and sellers combined.
