Norm,

One can *sometimes* set stops on NASDAQ issues. It is not a uniform practice as on the NYSE and this may be what your broker means. The policy on NASDAQ stocks depends on the broker, the stock and where you want the stop set.

I use Schwab and have been able to place stops on certain NASDAQ stocks.
