In a Typical Community, Typical Folks Back Clinton
nytimes.com

The typical community being Canton, Ohio, allegedly one of those bellwhether places. I excerpted the article in
Message 5880697 , which I won't repeat, except for this bit near the end and my comment:

Thanks for those examples of the following:

"There is much to be said in favor of modern journalism. By giving us the opinions of the uneducated, it keeps us in touch with the ignorance of the community." Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900)

Clinton's impeachment will have to be an educational process, just as it was with Nixon. And there is so much more room for education regarding Clinton. No wonder the wise Founding Fathers gave us a republic with representative democracy.

btw, polling does reflect precisely what you fear: that on a district by district basis Clinton is eviscerating Dem strength, especially in the mid west. The Dems know this and that's why the only elected Dems that defend Clinton are from safe districts. Cokie and Steven Roberts' last column was devoted to this. They also disclosed that the "national" polls that the media trumpets are heavily biased towards NY and LA, and shortchange the middle, where Clinton is playing poorly.
